Please, tell me you’ve seen Big Little Lies! If not, you must put Big Little Lies at the top of your watch list! HBO’s Big Little Lies may not seem like the show you need to be watching if you hear it’s about a bunch of rich white people, but it’s oh so much more than that.
Director Jean Marc Vallee and producer and star Reese Witherspoon teamed up to create this HBO series based on a book with the same title by Liane Moriarty. Yes, I’m guilty of watching the series before reading the book, but I promise I’ll get around to reading it! One day…
Big Little Lies, Celebrated Drama
Anyway, the show revolves around these mothers in Monterey, California. Of course, there’s drama between the moms and different community dynamics that will make you both laugh and a little frustrated, but something is lurking beneath the surface of this picture perfect town. The show tackles everything from marriage and parenting struggles to more serious topics like abuse. With heartbreak and laughs, we cannot praise the performances of these ladies enough! The leading ladies include Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz. Let’s not forget both Alexander Skarsgård and Adam Scott’s roles in the show!
Golden Globe Win For Big Little Lies
Out of the six nominations, the series took home four awards. These awards included, Best Actress in a Miniseries to Nicole Kidman, Best Miniseries, Best Supporting Actor to Alexander Skarsgård and Best Supporting Actress to Laura Dern.
