Duck Dynasty had an awesome fun-filled run of 11 seasons on the A&E network. Knowing that, you can probably guess how successful the reality TV show went on to be! The program introduced the viewers to the Robertson family, who boasted of their Louisiana heritage, strong faith, and their duck hunting business. Even though some people thought they were nothing more than the new Beverly Hillbillies, there is much to celebrate about the show. For one thing, there is no way we could ever forget about those incredible beards the men sported! When one member shaved his beard off, things got weird…
Jase is one of the men in the Robertson family. Among fans, he is popular for his bushy beard and wit. Recently, he told his fans that he planned to get rid of his facial hair! A lot of people were shocked to see what he looked like without it. As a matter of fact, even his wife Missy could not believe it. Are you ready to see what he looked like without all that hair?
The Robertson Patriarch
Phil Robertson happens to be the patriarch of the family. He is the founder of their duck calling business as well. When he was studying at Louisiana Tech, he made a name for himself as a talented football quarterback. In fact, he decided to turn down a roster spot for the NFL just so he could focus on the duck hunting season. It was in 1973 that he founded the company, but none of them ever thought it would become this big. This was merely the beginning for them all, but he had no idea at the time…
Friends With Terry Bradshaw
Thanks to his athletic prowess, Phil was picked ahead of the legendary Terry Bradshaw during the 1970 NFL Draft! He was the first-string quarterback for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. When they asked Phil about how he felt about choosing duck hunting over professional football, this is the only thing he had to say about it: “Terry went for the bucks, and I chased after the ducks.”
Fame By Facial Hair
The men of the Robertson family all have huge beards that suit their outdoorsy Southern lifestyle perfectly. Their facial hair is now associated with the family and even their duck-hunting business. As a matter of fact, the beards are so popular that it is hard to imagine that they would take them off of their own free will. This is the reason Jase managed to shock all of his fans and followers when he made the announcement.
The Robertson Family
If you watched the show, you must have gotten to know members of the Robertson family. We have Phil and Miss Kay, who are the patriarch and matriarch of the family. They got married when she was only 15 years old! Together, they have four kids: Jase, Willie, Jep, and Alan. All of the boys now have families of their own but continue to be active in the family business.
The grandchildren themselves had become a big hit on the TV show as well. On top of that, Willie’s daughter even appeared on Dancing With The Stars! Although the family is tight-knit, it was still difficult to tell what they would feel about what Jase was planning to do.
Duck Dynasty Dilemma
If you followed the show, we are sure you have at least heard about the Duck Dynasty controversy. It was about the time that Phil made certain offensive comments as he was being interviewed by a magazine. When it came out, the show got suspended for a hot minute. Some people thought this led to the decline of the show’s ratings and, ultimately, its cancellation after 11 successful seasons. Do you think this had anything to do with the reason Jase got rid of the beard?
The Funny And Good-Looking One
Jase Robertson is the second child among the brood of Miss Kay and Phil Robertson. He is now the COO of the duck hunting business. If you watched Duck Dynasty, perhaps you also thought he was the funniest and most handsome of them all! But why he did he decide to shave off the beard?
A Good Reason
While almost all of the men in the Robertson family chose to grow out their beards, there is simply something special about Jase’s. It is yet another reason people were shocked to hear that he planned to get rid of it. However, you should know that he did not do this on a whim. As a matter of fact, there was a reason to be proud of his decision to go through with such a big change.
His Little Girl
Mia, his daughter, was born with a cleft lip and palate. It is a natural condition in which the top lip of the baby does not form properly, and the skull does not connect with the upper part of the mouth while in the womb. Luckily, this is not a fatal condition. As a matter of fact, this can be remedied through surgery! The only downside is that the child might have speech difficulties.
Support From Fans
In 2014, Mia went through surgery to fix her cleft lip and palate. Jase and Missy were both anxious about this operation that their little girl was about to get. However, they were also happy and touched by just how much their fans supported them through those trying times. We bet this show of support helped the couple decide to launch a charity that would help kids who have the same condition.
The Mia Moo Fund
Jase decided that he wanted to commit to launching this foundation. It was going to be their way of honoring their daughter. They decided to start calling it the “Mia Moo Fund”. He did not only want to pay tribute to their child, but they also wanted to help out a cause that was dear to them.
Setting Their Goals
If they wanted to keep going with this, they knew that there was no way to go about it if they did not have funds. You should know that this was the reason he shaved off his beard. It was meant to be a fundraising pledge because he knew that it was going to help him with this endeavor. He told everyone that he would say goodbye to the beard if they reached a hundred thousand bucks in donations!
A New Man
There was a lot of excitement about the incredible mission he was planning to do. Many fans and people could not wait to see what a beardless Jase would look like. However, Missy was the one who had been anticipating it the most. After all, she had not seen him cleanshaven in seven long years.
Beardless Robertson Brother
We all know that nearly all of the grown men in the family had facial hair, although there was one exception to this rule. Al, the eldest brother, decided to go clean-shaven when the show was on the air. Jase also trimmed his own beard a couple of times, but he did this between filming so that it would look good for the cameras. However, it has been a long time since he was completely without it.
People With No Beards
The loyal fans of the show could not believe the pledge that Jase made. One reason behind this was that he once talked about what the importance of his beard was in one Duck Dynasty episode. He declared, “There are two kinds of people without beards, children and women, I am neither.” Did Jase still think this way now that he planned to turn beardless in the meantime?
Desire To Be Anonymous
However, this was not the first time he actually thought about shaving it all. During an interview in 2013, the Duck Dynasty star wondered aloud if he should go without it after the show was over. That time, he did not want to do it for a charity. Instead, he considered doing this because he wanted anonymity. There are always fans who recognized him and asked for a photo. He thought that this might no longer happen if he shaved his beard!
Time To Say Goodbye
Even though it is a very noble decision on his part, this was going to be a huge change for him and the entire family. He needed to be sure if he wanted to do it. He seemed to have problems doing something so drastic. After he thought it over, he decided that it was far more important to help out his charity and advocacy!
A Minor Disadvantage
Did you know that it is practical to have a beard if you are a duck hunter? It provides one with a natural camouflage without having to bring extra gear. This would create a new problem for him since he did not think about it right away. At any rate, he already had his eyes set on something that meant more to him than even hunting did.
Problems Came With It
The beard had certain benefits, but there were times when it gave him more of a hassle too. There was a time when he had to go through an extra search at the airport because the officials thought he was suspicious. The beard was actually longer than usual since duck hunting season just ended.
Mistaken For A Caveman
When they finished searching him thoroughly, people recognized him and asked him for autographs! After this, the Duck Dynasty star got to talk to a young boy who was there as well. It turns out that the little boy did not know him from the show. No, the kid thought that he was a Geico caveman! He started wondering if it was time for him to say goodbye to the beard, after all.
Thanks To The Beard
Jase and his incredible beard both played important roles in the family duck hunting business. He is one dedicated and hardworking man, so we are not surprised to hear that he has made $10 million over the years. While he could retire now if he wants to do so, he decided to focus on something noble instead.
After The Show
Duck Dynasty has come to an end, so Jase now gets to spend the majority of his times with the people he loves. He launched the website “CamoFix”, which serves as his own platform to keep his fans on the loop about how he was doing after the show. He has also appeared at different Christian events and gatherings on top of this. Now that he has lots of free time on his hands, he decided it was high time that he did something for a cause he was passionate about.
Making The Announcement
It was in June that he told everyone he was going to cut off the iconic beard! Many fans were shocked to hear about this. Together with Missy, he went on the Fox morning show to make the announcement and explain his motivations for doing this. They came up with a date as well: September 4. It turns out that he already talked to his barber about his plans. It is also interesting to hear that Missy did not remember what he looked like without it as well. We are sure that it was an exciting time for fans of Duck Dynasty! After all, everyone was eager to see what Jase would look like without all that hair.
A New Look
Jase knew that it was going to cause quite a bit of fanfare among their fans, which is why he turned to Facebook live to broadcast the big shave. His wife Missy took over the phone and capture all the details as Jase sat down in the chair. It was now time for his friend to start shaving it off! Aside from the shave, it was also important to style his hair in a way that would go with his new look. What did the family think?
Fans went to Facebook to watch as Jase turned from a bearded man to a clean-shaven one. It was hard to believe since his huge beard had been around for such a long time. Of course, everyone waited with bated breath to see what the end result would look like… Was it going to suit him?
Her New Husband
Whoa, can you believe just how different Jase looks, now that he no longer had the beard? He looked completely different from his old self and the rest of the men of the family. Everyone was thrilled about his new look, but no one was more excited than Missy herself. She said that her husband looked like someone else altogether. She then took to Twitter to announce that she was starting to flirt with him more now that he looked like a completely different man. We can see why she would feel that way!
Growing It Back
While he would most likely grow it back after this, everyone still took the time to appreciate his new look. Even though it meant that he would have a harder time when hunting season rolls in, we are happy to hear that the reaction of his wife pleased him. And how can we forget that he succeeded in raising money for their foundation? The Robertson family took pride in what he did!
We know that it might sound hard to believe, but there was a time when the boys were all clean-shaven. What a shock, right? We hope you are in for a treat since they all looked ridiculously handsome back then!
The Boys Before
This photo shows us just how much the stars of Duck Dynasty have changed over the years. Little Jep, Jase, and Willie all looked like they had a lot of mischief and antics up their sleeves back then.
Sergeant Si Sans Beard
Did you know that even Si Robertson once sported a clean-cut look? If we did not know it was him in the photo, we would not have suspected it. What a dashing sergeant he was! Do you prefer him this way?
Marriage Through The Years
Missy really was telling the truth, wasn’t she? Jase looked like a different man when the two of them just got hitched. We now understand why she was so thrilled when he decided to get rid of the beard.
Man, no one would have thought that the people in this photo would be huge reality TV personalities. Here is the Duck Dynasty cast a long time ago. Don’t you think it is mind-blowing to see how they used to look? This difference is actually really stunning.
Young And Smitten
Let us take a look at one more throwback photo for the lovely couple. They were a lot younger in this photo. Don’t you think they perfectly represent American sweethearts in this photo? How lovely!
As you can see in this photo, the lovebirds had a great time on their holiday. This sweet photo of them is seriously giving us tropical vibes. Even though time has passed, and things have changed, we love it.
Phil Of The Past
Who would have thought that Phil Robertson used to look like an angelic young man? We were shocked to hear about it too. Do you think he had plans to grow out his beard when he grew older when this photo was taken?
Let us talk about the controversy about the show! Phil might be a big fan of free speech, but it has done him more damage than good at times. Things went very badly when he spoke to GQ Magazine and made comments about homosexuals. “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he said.
Defending His Comments
He received a lot of backlash for those comments, so he decided to make follow-up comments to clarify some things. However, we do not think they helped improve the situation. Phil went on to say, “We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”
Get a load of this photo of Stan when he was young. Do you think he is unhappy that this has even come out? This Duck Dynasty star would have fit right in a music video for a song by Eminem!
Mischievous Little Kids
In an interview, Willie talked about how he and his siblings all grew up “rough and tough…it created us to be independent and real confident.” We are sure that none of the kids in this photo had a clue that they would run a multimillion duck hunting company in the future. Back then, they were far too young to even think of such a thing.
Back In The Day
In fact, Jase did not feel optimistic about the show in the beginning. “We grew up real poor. There were four boys and my parents in a two-bedroom house. So I cannot believe this,” he said. The young men in the photo were all clean-shaven here. We bet they had no idea what was about to come for them!
Willie got the opportunity to discuss marriage and family life in another interview. He said, “Our marriage has been tested: tons of kids, growing businesses and working with family on both sides. And it’s withstood all that. You either melt and crash or you become strong. We’re strong.” Don’t you think this is such a nice photo of the family? They had been having a blast at the beach when it was taken.
If you ask Willie, he will tell you that he has no plans of saying goodbye to his glorious beard. His wife Korie is not like Missy in the sense that she does not care if she would never see him clean-shaven again.
Making A Killing
The Robertson family patriarch Phil made a name for himself in the world of duck hunting. Apart from this, he used to slay it on the football field. Here is what he looked like when he was a promising young football player. Even though he could have been pro back then, it looks like he has no regrets about doing something else instead.
It is hard to imagine him as anything other than a duck hunter. However, there was a time when he had a different job. In the past, Phil and Miss Kay taught at the local high school! He had no beard back then.
When Phil and Miss Kay were only young adults, they made the decision to just stay in their home state, Louisiana. They made a life for themselves there, and it was also where they started their business empire! We do not think that they had any idea what fate had in store for them back then.
The Beginning Of The Beard
Phil began to grow out his beard when his sons were all teenagers. He has not been seen without it ever since! When the boys graduated from high school, they decided to grow out beards of their own as well.
High School Kid
When Willie was still in high school, he became known for his talents on the basketball court. These days, he is now the CEO of the family’s duck hunting business. Do you think his great smile helped him make his fortune of $25 million?
A Winning Yearbook Smile
His wife Korie has said that their youngest kid Bella has not seen him without a beard! It does not sound like she will have the chance to see it in person soon, but she can go through old yearbooks to see it.
Passing It On
Willie only decided to take on the CEO position of the family duck hunting enterprise when his children were no longer very little. Even though his beard now obscures his dimples, they are actually quite prominent. We are happy to hear that John Luke and Sadie inherited this lovely feature from him!
Family Photo Fun
Missy and Jase started out as high school sweethearts. They are clearly made for each other. The first photo shows them with Cole, Mia, and Reed. The right one was taken not long after they started their relationship.
Missy Robertson’s Mission
In all likelihood, most people think of camouflage and hunting when they think of the family. However, you should know that they are actually very charitable and kind as well. Take Missy for example. She is an advocate for women who have gone through addiction, sex trafficking, and homelessness.
How did the relationship between Willie and Korie start? The two of them met in third grade at a summer camp. The two tied the knot when they were still in their teens. She said, “We were together probably three months before we started talking about it, and then we got married within a year — I was 18 and he was 19. No one was pregnant!” The two of them looked so cute in their prom photo!
Unwinding With Uncle
Sadie Robertson took to Tumblr to share this photo of her with her uncle Jep! How cute is this? The post went viral right after she put it up online. The family has lots of fans, but she is especially popular.
Doing It Right
John Luke, Willie’s son, decided to get into the family tradition as well! He has started to grow out his very own beard like his father and uncles. The young man sure looks just like his father in this photo.
Tying The Knot
John Luke recently tied the knot with Mary Kate, his longtime girlfriend. The two of them attended Liberty University for their college education. Can you believe that they had 700 guests in attendance during their big day? The wedding was held on the family farm, which sounds ideal to us. They hope to begin a family soon.
Even though there are many people who love these Duck Dynasty stars, not everyone is a fan of their fashion sense. There was a time when Jase was at the Trump International Hotel in New York City. However, the staff kicked him out because they assumed that he was a homeless person.
When he was interviewed by Fox, Jase said that he did not initially think the show would be such a huge hit: “I was one of the ones who said the reality show would never work…We were in the hunting world. I had this perception of reality shows that you had to have all this friction and fits of rage and four-letter words…We’re pretty calm compared to that…We’ve got some crazy characters in our family — but I didn’t think people would want to see that.”
Supporting The POTUS
During the 2016 elections, Willie expressed his support for the Republican presidential candidate. We are talking about none other than Pres. Donald Trump himself, of course! We are sure that this Duck Dynasty star was happy about the results.
Supporting The Military
Did you know that Jase Robertson has a lot of respect for our service men and women? He took to Instagram to post this photo of himself and some military personnel. The caption on the post read, “Hanging out with USA’s finest during airport weather delay. #thanksforyourservice.”
Meeting Barack Obama
In 2013, Willie and Korie Robertson got invited to attend the White House Correspondent’s dinner. When they were there, they got the opportunity to meet Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States himself. He even revealed that he was actually a fan of Duck Dynasty.
Willie and Korie Robertson are good friends with Eric and Lara Trump. In the 2016 elections, the couple made donations to the Trump campaign. Do you think Eric Trump plans to grow out a beard like his pal?
Al The Wild Child
You should not think that Al is a conservative guy just because he opted to go for a clean-cut look instead of growing out a beard. He was quite wild before. Perhaps this is his own act of rebelliousness.
In the past year, the family mourned the loss of a person important to them. If you watched the TV show in the past, you probably noticed just how close the entire family happens to be. They are always there to support each other, especially when things go wrong. It is truly touching to see the way they grieved and honored their late family members.
Welcome To Robertson Row
Most of the family members live near each other in a cul-de-sac of their own. Called “Robertson Row”, there are eight houses for them there. The Robertson brothers live in four of them, while the other four go to their extended family members and close family friends. Knowing this, you must be able to tell just how difficult it was for the entire clan when they learned that a family member died of cancer. It was a hard moment for all of them.
A Sad Day
One of the houses in Robertson Row is occupied by John and Chrys Howard, who are the parents of Korie. They are important to the family and have even made appearances in Duck Dynasty a number of times when the show was still on the air. Anyone who watched the show probably knows just how supportive and loving they are as parents and grandparents. When a cousin of theirs passed away after struggling with cancer, the whole clan grieved with them and offered them support.
You already know that Korie and Willie were only kids when they first met at summer camp. Chrys worked as the director of Camp Ch-To-Ca and had been a friend of Phil and Kay Robertson for a long time now. When her cousin passed away, she made a post on Instagram as a way to honor her late cousin. This is what the caption on the photo said: “This past week one of my cousins, Glenn Durham, lost his battle with cancer and gained his heavenly reward.” We are sure that she managed to deal with it better thanks to the support of the entire Robertson family.
In September 2013, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs decided to pay tribute to their former quarterbacks Phil Robertson and Terry Bradshaw. The two received a lot of honor that day, but they were also glad to be reunited at long last. They took an awesome photo together as they held up their jerseys for the cameras.
Did you know that Jep and Jessica, his wife, are huge fans of camouflage? On her Instagram, Jessica got plenty of attention when she posted this picture and added this caption to it: “Talk about a #tb pic…. seriously!!!!!! Anyone else love camo this much???”
It seems like Willie decided to take his appreciation for camo one step further. He does not only like to wear full camo outfits on the regular, but he also shelled out some money for a custom camouflage convertible! We have to say that we have never seen a BMW convertible like this in the past.
Jase made quite a name for himself during the run of the show. People love him for all his antics. He has great frog hunting skills and even dubbed himself “a frog’s worst nightmare”. On top of that, he also claims to speak “Duckinese”. We are not surprised to hear about the fanfare that surrounded his decision to go clean-shaven!
